April 2011 marked the 150th Anniversary of the commencement of the American Civil War. For the next four years, the 150th Anniversary will play out over and over again from the firing on Fort Sumter, out in Charleston Harbor, South Carolina in April of 1861 to the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln at Ford’s Theater in April of 1865.
In remembrance of those Granite Staters who sacrificed all for Union and the abolition of slavery, Mr Closs has been traveling around the State of New Hampshire lecturing on the contributions made by New Hampshire’s valiant sons during that monumental war.
His presentation has been tailored to the community in which he is speaking. The focus is the individual fighting man from those communities. He have successfully brought the American Civil War back home to New Hampshire. The presentations have been well received by those in attendance. He has lectured before community historical societies, libraries, and other civic groups. Some of those communities include, but are not limited to, Amherst, Hampstead, Hampton, Londonderry, Merrimack, Newton, New Ipswich, Pelham, Seabrook, Weare, and Windham. Future presentations include Salisbury and Salem. |
